TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
Browsers, Plug-Ins, and Viewers

BRASC is committed to making its Web site accessible to all citizens. This includes accessibility for visitors who are using assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers) as well as numerous platforms and devices (e.g., handhelds, laptops, text browsers, etc.).

Browsers and Monitor Settings

The BRASC website makes extensive use of modern web standards, including HTML 4, Cascading Stylesheets, and JavaScript. Therefore, we recommend you use a modern browser such as Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape 7. Please note that the BRASC website should remain fully functional with all of the above features turned off.

The BRASC web site looks best with the monitor resolution set to 800 by 600, but should be functional any at monitor resolution. For example, to set your monitor resolution in Windows, select the "My Computer" icon; then the "Control Panel" icon, then the "Display" icon; then the "Settings" tab. The "desktop area" will list your monitor resolution setting.

Viewing and Downloading Files

Depending on the configuration of your computer, files of the types listed below may:

  1. open inside of your web browser,
  2. open in a new program window, or
  3. ask you where to save the file. If you would like to download a copy of the file to your computer, right-click (on Windows) or command-click (on Macintosh) and choose "Save Target As..." (IE) or "Save Link As..." (Netscape). This will allow you to save a copy of the file to your computer rather than having the file open inside your web browser.

These plug-ins and viewers allow users to view various types of files on the BRASC website. Links to these tools are provided for the user's convenience. The inclusion of these links is not intended to endorse any products or services offered on these external sites.
